Sunday, November 23, 2008 Christ the King Services at 9:00 & 10:45
Church Announcements
Worship in St. Paul (This Week) Church of the Cross' St. Paul worship gathering will meet next on Thursday, November 20th. Through this Fall and Winter we will be meeting at Roseville Covenant Church on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, from 7 - 8 p.m. These events are opportunities for us to worship together, strengthen our fellowship on the east side, and welcome others into Church of the Cross' community. Each evening we will follow an order of service that includes singing, the public reading of scripture, and prayer. Each gathering will last just about one hour. Similar services will also be held in Hopkins on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (see All Church Prayer below). Childcare will be provided. If you plan to bring children with you, please let us know so that we can ensure that there will be enough workers to minister with the children. If you have any questions about the St. Paul worship gatherings, or if you are interested in helping with preparations for these events, please contact Paul Calvin at paul@ofthecross.org.
Advent Wreath Making (This Sunday) Our Annual Advent Wreath Making will take place on Sunday, November 23rd. Join us to make an advent wreath to celebrate the season of Advent at home. Wreath-making will take place after both services, and this is an activity for all ages. There will be snacks after the early service and a simple lunch of soup and bread after the second service. Please sign up at the information table if you will be coming. We will provide the greens, candles and frame. Materials will cost $10, if you need a frame…$5, if you don’t. Please also help by bringing soup or setting up or cleaning up. Contact Bekah Jones (rebekahjones@yahoo.com or 651-482-0345) if you have questions.
Discovering the Love of God (last class) Come discover God’s love as more than just an abstract intellectual concept. André LaTondresse will lead this study which will meet in the Chapel Room this Sunday, November 23 (10:45 a.m.). We will examine what the Bible says about God’s love and seek to discover how His love can free us from the guilt, shame and fear that often bind us and prevent us from loving as we are called to love. You are invited this Sunday, November 23, after the first service to join us for our last class.

Bible Studies & Teachings
Men of the Cross - Men's Fraternity On Saturday, December 6th we will continue with the second half of Quest for Authentic Manhood. We meet the first and third Saturdays of each month from 8 - 10 a.m. (prompt start at 8 a.m.). This is a perfect time to jump in and join us for this second half (schedules are on the Welcome Table). Check out some of the titles. I guarantee these sessions will be highly relevant to each one of us: “A Man and His Wife,” “Fathers and Sons,” “Fathers and Daughters,” and more! These sessions would also be very valuable for those of you who have sons 16 years old by having them join you in this quest. Contact André LaTondresse (952-936-7891 & andrelat@ties2.net).
Women's Bible Studies All women are invited to join our Bible studies (bring a friend or neighbor): Tuesday Mornings at the Table in the Church library (10 a.m. – 12 noon). This Spiritual Formation group will focus on the practice of Spiritual Disciplines as a means to spiritual growth. We will use worship, silence, scripture, music and dialogue as we learn to listen and pray together. For more information contact Cheryl Witham (952-941-2560). Wednesday Evenings at Church (7:00 - 9:00 p.m.) We are studying Beth Moore’s To Live Is Christ: the Life & Ministry of Paul, an 11-week in-depth Bible study of Acts and the epistles of Paul. Our times will include prayer and discussion of the lesson along with Beth's video commentary on it. We will gain a new appreciation of servanthood and why Paul said “to live is Christ, and to die is gain”. Sign up sheet is on the table in the Gathering Space. For further information, please contact Cindy Calvin (612-729-2553 & calvin-cindy@minnehahaacademy.net), or Barbara LaTondresse (952-936-7891 & andrelat@ties2.net). Wednesday Evenings at the Carlsons (7:00 – 8:30 p.m.) The Women's Bible Study discussion group is currently discovering the rich relevance of the Tabernacle in a ten-week study. Contact Elizabeth at 952-924-9062 or carlsonfamily4@gmail.com for information.
